“There is a secret bond between slowness and memory, between speed and forgetting”

Did we take our city for granted ?

The lights have come back on after a long, strange period of darkness and silence.

We all hope the lockdowns become a distant memory. But before we forget them, we should ask ourselves some important questions:

What do we really want from Copenhagen after the lockdown?

Did we take our city for granted before?

Has the pandemic given us an opportunity to reshape and redefine our city?

Will we seize that opportunity?

Back in April, and again in June, we invited a number of friends and fellow-travellers for a series of separate walk-and-talks around Christiania, Christianshavn, and Vesterbro to discuss all of this. To walk along with the participants, and to hear what they talked about.

Our goal was to re-establish connections, forge new ones, and spark a broad, civic conversation about what we can learn from the crisis, and what we want from our city moving forward.

Our collective healing process is far from over. So we nvited yet another group for a City walk-and-talk, this time in the central city on August 23.

We communicate here primarily in English, but we also walk and talk in Danish (selvfølgelig).
